Workshops
Workshops are an environment to learn practical skills that build your capacity to write any document. These workshops teach you about the writing process, and provide strategies and models of writing as learning tools to transform the way you write.
KLG Workshops are a series of well-established standards, the fundamental strategies for all writers in every field with any type of writing. They are the ‘go to’ for all researchers – academic and commercial – to craft words that influence.
Bespoke workshops provide more time to engage in the writing process and are developed according to the needs of your group. There are opportunities to learn how to write winning grants; successful promotion documents; and, write effectively as a team, particularly those writing shared documents, to work together and deliver a professional and persuasive end product.
Workshop 1: Crafting Your Professional Identity
In this workshop, you’ll delve into the essence of your identity as a researcher or professional, focussing on how you want to be perceived within your field. Rather than listing your experiences or projects, you’ll learn to articulate the benefits and significance of your work. Through exercises and discussions, you’ll establish your unique identity, define your key differentiators and select compelling examples that showcase your story.
Workshop Agenda:

- Craft a compelling bio that effectively communicates your value
Outcome:
You’ll have a clearly defined identity that highlights your value and uniqueness. Your bio can be used across various platforms – your industry/university websites, brochures, and as a pitch for introductions and interviews. It will serve as a powerful tool to elevate your presence in your field and attract opportunities for collaboration and recognition.

Workshop 2: Writing Mastery Workshop
In the Writing Mastery Workshop, you’ll learn the art of strategic planning to optimise your writing productivity. Based on Chapter 7 of Karyn’s book, this workshop will guide you through the process of creating your Annual Writing Plan (AWP) to ensure success in all your writing endeavours. The AWP involves setting clear writing goals, identifying deadlines, and allocating dedicated writing time. Your AWP will empower you to stay organised and focused throughout the year.

Knowing all of your writing responsibilities at the beginning of every year means you can be in control, and when more writing opportunities arise during the year you will know whether you can fit them in.

Workshop 3: Persuasive Writing Intensive
Designed to elevate your writing skills and enhance your ability to communicate persuasively. This workshop, based on Chapters 4, 5, and 6 of Karyn’s book, will take you on a transformative journey to master the art of persuasive writing. Whether you’re an individual researcher or part of a team preparing to tackle a major proposal, this workshop will equip you with the essential tools and techniques to craft compelling and influential content.

Workshop 4: One or Two Day Writing Retreat
Escape the distractions of daily life and immerse yourself in a full – one or two days of focused writing. This retreat provides a unique opportunity to dedicate uninterrupted time to your writing projects in a supportive and distraction-free environment. Writing is a process and the first step is to make time to think — in this case, one or two days away from the desk where you can smooth your way to completion.
Workshops can be customised to the needs of your organisation or research group – grant and proposal writing, writing for promotion, or opportunities to learn how to write effectively as a team – fabulous for those who are writing shared documents, to work together and deliver a professional and persuasive end product.

Workshop 5: TEDx Coaching + Powerful Presentations – Introductory Workshop
Powerful speakers start powerfully. They know the best introduction strategy that suits them, their presentation, and their audience. They close their presentation with a call to action. They know how to deal with questions at the end of their presentation – and interview!
This workshop is an introduction, providing a unique opportunity to learn the craft of developing a powerful presentation – one that influences your audience and creates impact. To complete your training and to arrive on stage and deliver powerfully, you will need 1-2-1 coaching to implement and personalise the skills you developed in this introductory workshop.
Workshop Agenda:
- Establish the components of a successful presentation
- Define the purpose of your presentation
- Establish the difference between presentations to inform and those that persuade and inspire
- Know how many words you need to write for the time you are presenting
- Tap into Karyn’s expertise as a speaker coach and learn the strategies to write an effective presentation and then present powerfully, every time
